When Bainbridge, a pickleball apparel brand rooted in the sport’s origins in Bainbridge, Washington, reached out for a shoot, I knew this wasn’t going to be your typical project. With their sleek, dark designs and a passion for bringing energy to the game, I wanted to create something that truly stood out—something that mirrored the dynamism of pickleball itself.

A Tribute to Pickleball’s Roots

The name Bainbridge carries a lot of history. It’s where pickleball was born, and the brand takes pride in reflecting that legacy. Their apparel is modern yet understated, with deep tones that exude a sharp, contemporary vibe. I wanted the shoot to pay homage to that legacy while capturing the fast-paced, electrifying energy of the sport.

Experimenting with Shutter Dragging

For this shoot, I decided to lean into motion—literally. Using a slow shutter speed and experimenting with light trails, I captured movement in a way that felt alive. The technique, often referred to as shutter dragging, added a dynamic, artistic flair to the shots.

The resulting images had an electric energy: streaks of light accentuated the models' motion, creating a visual rhythm that echoed the back-and-forth pace of pickleball. It wasn’t just about showing off the apparel—it was about telling a story of speed, agility, and flow.
